Ivana Popovic

Violin Teacher

Ivana is a versatile artist - violinist, composer, theatre performer, chamber music coach, teacher and writer. She has over 25 years of teaching and performing experience, and has been composing and recording music for the past 9 years. Her compositional opus consists of chamber and solo violin music as well as music for theatre, performance art projects and music for children.
 
Ivana’s teaching experience includes teaching violin and chamber music to students ages 5-77 as well as preparation for exams and competitions. She has successfully prepared students for Royal Conservatory exams, including ARCT exam. Ivana is skilled in custom tailoring lessons to fit each student’s individuality, ability and needs. She believes that learning music, in a supportive and fun environment, is essential aspect of one’s development, regardless of age.

Ivana holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the University of Veljko Vlahovic in Montenegro. Upon coming to Canada, she attended University of Toronto, studying historical performance. Her violin and composition teachers included Aleksandar Ajzenberg, Sergei Kunakov, Vartkes Bojadzijan, Miroslav Rusin, Kevin Mallon and Joseph Peleg. In addition, studying voice, electric violin, improvisation, piano and acting with a number of esteemed Canadian teachers built a strong foundation for Ivana as an artist.
