Meagan Milatz
Pianist
Meagan Milatz is “a remarkable pianist with a seemingly limitless palette of expression” (Le Devoir). Named one of Canada’s “30 hot classical musicians under 30” by the CBC in 2019, she has appeared as a soloist with orchestras across Canada, and performs regularly with top international musicians such as Stefan Dohr, Matt Haimovitz, Øystein Baadsvik, Avi Avital, Cho Liang Lin, and Andrew Wan, among many others. For the 2019–2020 season, Meagan embarked on a 50-concert, Canada-wide tour alongside violinist Amy Hillis as the duo meagan&amy, winner of the first-ever pan-Canadian partnership recital tour offered by Jeunesses Musicales Canada, Debut Atlantic and Prairie Debut. Internationally, she has performed at the New Ross Piano Festival in Ireland and the Edeta Arts International Chamber Music Festival in Spain, as well as giving concerts in Scotland and France. Meagan earned top prize at the Shean Piano Competition, McGill Classical Concerto Competition and Canadian Music Competition, and also received a Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Award. Meagan holds a master’s degree from McGill University and is grateful to her teachers and lifelong mentors Cherith Alexander, Philip Chiu, and Ilya Poletaev, as well as Tom Beghin with whom she was greatly privileged to have studied the fortepiano.
