Tristan Savella
Pianist
Filipino-American pianist Dr. Tristan Savella has been an active soloist and chamber musician in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Past engagements have included performances at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in New York City and the Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, Austria. In 2013, his Piano Trio was chosen to represent the Eastman School of Music as part of “The Conservatory Project”, sponsored by the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.. Tristan is an alumnus of the Interlochen Arts Academy, the Eastman School of Music (B.M. Applied Music), the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg (M.A. Klaviersolistenausbildung), the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Glenn Gould School (Artist Diploma), and the University of Toronto (D.M.A). His principal teachers have included TJ Lymenstull, George Kern, John O’Conor, Lydia Wong, Jamie Parker and the late Nelita True and Marietta Orlov. Furthermore, Tristan is the recipient of multiple prizes at various competitions, including third place at the Concours Flame in Paris, first place at the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition in New York City, and third place at The Glenn Gould School Chamber Music Competition (alongside cellist Kimberly Jeong). He was also a participant at the Seoul International Music Competition and the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Piano Competition. In addition to performing, Tristan also works as an accompanist at the Royal Conservatory of Music and as a private piano and music theory instructor in Toronto. Aside from music, Tristan’s diverse interests include tennis, ping pong, cooking and traveling.
