Summer Performance Lecture Series

This Summer Music Lecture Series "Understanding Classical Performance", is designed to educate, engage, and inspire audiences of all ages through accessible, high-quality lectures on classical music.

Dr. John Holland will guide the lectures, which will include listening, videos, and score study. The series will be hosted by Avenue Road Music and Performance Academy and will run weekly on Tuesdays, from July to August 2025.

Cost:

Registration is $25 per meeting. Attendees must register online.

There is also a registration for the entire series of Music and Theatre lectures. 11 sessions in total.

July 8th: The Birth of Classical Music: From Chant to Polyphony.     

July 15th: Baroque Music: Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and friends.      

July 22nd: The Classical Period: Haydn, Mozart, and the Rise of the Symphony.     

July 29th: Romanticism in Music: Beethoven, Chopin, and Beyond.       

August 5th: Modernism and the 20th Century: Stravinsky, Debussy, and New Sounds.       

August 12th: Opera 101: A Journey Through Voice and Drama.
