“Music for Life” is an innovative program delivering cost-free music education to older adults in need, promoting artistic expression, community, and lifelong mental wellness. It addresses the dismal lingering effects of Covid isolation. It recognizes the underserved needs of our senior populations. It brings joy.
Specifically, Music for Life will deliver to the southern Ontario senior community weekly music classes in Choir, Piano, Music Appreciation, and Guitar. Participants may explore classical music, jazz, opera, folk, and world music—depending on the instrument repertoire and instructor. Sessions will take place at Avenue Road Music and Performance Academy, conveniently located at Avenue Rd. and St. Clair Ave, with free parking. The Academy is housed in an iconic historic building, graced by fireplaces, stained glass windows and original wood floors, creating an intimate and inviting community space. Coffee-and-tea gatherings follow each event.
Music for Life is designed as a society game-changer, igniting or rekindling the passion for music in older adults, and filling a vital need in our community.
