About The Artists
MYRIADE QUARTET
The Myriade Quartet was formed at McGill University and is based in Montreal. With members
hailing from Canada, the United States and France, the Myriade Quartet was recently
selected to take part in the Trondheim and Wigmore Hall international competitions. As
artists-in-residence at the Prince Edward County Festival, the quartet has presented lecture-
recitals followed by concerts in 2022 in collaboration with Charles Richard-Hamelin, Scott St-
John, Angela Park and Sharon Wei of the New Orford Quartet. In their last season, they
performed at Kin Musique, the Baptême series, as part of a residency at the Colorado Music
Festival and the Unionville Music Academy, and as a senior quartet at the McGill International
String Quartet Academy (MISQA). The Myriade Quartet was formed under the tutelage of
André Roy's, while also receiving valuable guidance from the Danish Quartet, Jerusalem Quartet
and Mathieu Herzog, Mark Steinberg, Peter Oundjian, Philip Setzer, Ralph de Souza, Petr
Prause, Jeffrey Myers, Richard O'Neill and Ani Kavafian. In the coming months, the Myriade
Quartet will record Bartók's Quartet no.2 and Haydn's Quartet op.74 no.1 with the invaluable
support of the Toronto Arts & Letters Club, and perform at Concerts aux Îles du Bic, St Joseph's
Church in Montreal and St Bride's Church in London, a concert organized by the Wigmore Hall
Competition.
Julia Mirzoev, violin:
Violinist Julia Mirzoev is a sought-after chamber musician and soloist in Canada and abroad.
Noted for her vivid interpretations, Julia has won the commissioned work prizes at the Klein
International Competition in San Francisco and the Michael Hill International Competition in
New Zealand. As well as taking part in the Wigmore Hall competition with her quartet in the
coming months, Julia will be performing with Ensemble Amici in Toronto, at the Promusica
Festival in Bromont, at the Montreal Chamber Festival and at the Îles du Bic concerts in
Rimouski. An alumni of the Rebanks fellowship program, she is grateful to the Canada Council
for the Arts for the loan of the Janarius Gagliano “Palmason” violin.
Russell Iceberg, violin:
Montréal-based violinist Russell Iceberg has won multiple awards, including grand prizes at the
Golden Violin Competition, the Peter Mendell award, and top prizes at the Prix d'Éurope, and
Allentown Symphony Orchestra’s Schadt String Competition. As a member of the Myriade
Quartet, Russell will be traveling in April to London, UK for the Wigmore Hall International
String Quartet Competition. Other activities include performances throughout Ontario and
Québec for prestigious series including Concerts aux Îles du Bic, Chapelle Historique du Bon
Pasteur, and Toronto’s Arts and Letters Club.
Cynthia Blanchon, viola:
French violist Cynthia Blanchon divides her time between North America and Europe,
dedicating herself to various artistic endeavors. Since 2023, Cynthia has been a viola professor at
Université de Montréal and is an active chamber musician as a member of the Myriade Quartet.
In the coming months, she will be teaching and performing at Orford Music or on tour with
Collectif 9. Eager to discover forgotten repertoire, she will be recording with the generous
support of Toronto Arts & Letter club, the sonata for viola and piano by Ebenezer Prout of which
there is no recording as of today. She is also organizing the next International Viola Congress in
2026 which will happen in CNSM de Paris, as part of the French Viola Society.
Braden McConnell, cello:
Braden McConnell is a cellist in Montreal. He studied with Amir Eldan at the Oberlin
Conservatory, Susan Moses at the Indiana University String Academy, and Richard Aaron at the
University of Michigan before attending McGill University to study with Brian Manker. A
National Merit Scholar, Braden received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan,
triple-majoring in Cello, Mathematics, and Economics and a Master of Music from McGill
University. Engagements in 2025 include The Wigmore Hall International String Quartet
Competition as a member of the Myriade Quartet, as well as performances on the Syrinx, Pro
Musica, and Îles du Bic concert series.
