With Lauren Halasz

Ages 14-17 (11-13 available by special request)
July 10-14, 2023 (9am-4pm)

From idea to demo in 1 week! Learn to write lyrics, melodies, & chords, get started with production and arrangement, and finish the week with a recording of your song. No previous songwriting experience needed, open for experienced musicians or beginners in Folk, Pop, Jazz, or Rock. Some experience on an instrument is great, but not required - if you’re comfortable singing you can write songs!

This week-long workshop is led by singer-songwriter, content creator, and music educator Lauren Halasz (Lo & the Highroad) with support from additional expert faculty. You’ll learn how to write captivating lyrics, structure chord progressions (no music theory experience needed!) and write your own melodies. Bonus workshops on singing, performing, harmonizing, and producing together with one-on-one coaching will take your music to the next level. Taking place at the beautiful Avenue Road Music and Performance Academy, featuring the Gordon Lightfoot Concert Hall, The Charles Feldman Keyboard Lab, and the Lewitt Family Music Creation Lab.
